6.1 Using the Application

Open (and close) a presentation application.

     

Open one or more existing presentations.

     

Create a new presentation using the default template.

     

Save a presentation to the hard disk or a diskette.

     

Save a presentation with a different file name.

     

Save a presentation under another file type: Rich Text Format (rtf), presentation template, image file format, software type or version number.

     

Switch between open presentations.

     

Use Help functions.

     

Close a presentation.

     

Use magnification and zoom tools.

     

Display and hide built-in toolbars.

     

Modify basic options/preferences: user name, default directory/folder.

     

6.2 Developing a presentation

Understand the uses of different presentation view modes.

     

Change between presentation views.

     

Add a new slide with a specific slide layout such as:  title slide, organisational chart, chart and text, bulleted list, table.

     

Change slide layout.

     

Change background colour on selected slides or entire presentation.

     

Apply and change a design template to a presentation.

     

Insert or remove an image onto a master slide.

     

Create Footers in selected slides or all slides using text, automatic slide numbering, dates.

     

6.3 Text and Images

Add text in standard and outline view.

     

Add and edit text on slides and notes pages.

     

Change text appearance: font type and size.

     

Apply italics, bold, underlining and case changes to text.

     

Apply different colours to text.

     

Apply shadow to text.

     

Align text: left, centre and right.

     

Adjust line spacing before and after bulleted or numbered points.

     

Change the style of bullets or umbers in a list.

     

Use the undo and redo commands.

     

Insert a picture or image into a slide.

     

Copy text and pictures or images within the presentation or between open presentations.

     

Move text and pictures or images within the presentation or between open presentations.

     

Resize pictures or images in a presentation.

     

Delete text, pictures or images in a presentation.

     

6.4 Charts/Graphs and Drawn Objects

Input data to create or modify different kinds of charts in a slide; bar chart, pie chart and line chart.

     

Change background colour of the chart.

     

Change colours of chart elements.

     

Change chart type.

     

Create an organisational chart.

     

Modify the structure of an organisational chart.

     

Add various forms of drawn objects to a slide; lines, free hand lines, arrows, text box, rectangle, square and other shapes.

     

Modify a drawn object: background colour, line colour, line weight, line style.

     

Apply shadow to a drawn object.

     

Rotate or flip a drawn object.

     

Align a drawn object: left, centre, right, top or bottom of a slide.

     

Resize a drawn object or chart within a presentation.

     

Bring an object to the front or send an object to the back.

     

Copy a chart or drawn object within the presentation or between open presentations.

     

Move a chart or drawn object within the presentation or between open presentations.

     

Delete a chart or drawn object.

     

6.5 Slide Show Effects

Add and modify preset text and image animation effects to slides.

     

Add and modify slide transition effects.

     

6.6 Prepare Outputs

Select appropriate output format for slide presentation; overhead, handout, 35 mm slides, on-screen show.

     

Use a spell-check program and make changes where necessary.

     

Add notes for the presenter to slides.

     

Change slide set up, orientation (landscape or portrait). Change paper size

     

Copy or move slides within the presentation or between open presentations.

     

Print slides in various views and output formats.

     

Hide and show slides.

     

Start a slide show on any slide.
